For most people, music is quite an integral part of their day-to-day living – bet you listen to some of your favorite tunes while going about your daily routine, too. With that said, we all have our own personal tastes when it comes to the songs we listen to. However, no matter how different our preferences might be, there are always a few bands and artists that can take credit for being everyone’s favorite.

Over the years, several artists have graced the airwaves. Although many of them undoubtedly became popular during their time, some have managed to become timeless icons. For all the awards these musicians receive, perhaps the best compliment they can receive is to be told their songs still inspire artists, generations after its release.

Well, without further ado, let’s talk about a few of music’s all-time best artists. Chances are you know most of them already. If not, hopefully, this article helps you learn a thing or two about them.

Michael Jackson

We’re pretty sure that anyone reading this article has heard of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. For many years, his music and talents have been inspiring artists. Besides singing, Michael Jackson is also a great songwriter. Not only did he compose most of the lyrics to his music, but he’s also placed a lot of effort into determining how his band accompanies his vocals – all this while not knowing how to play a single instrument. Furthermore, he’s also quite the ball of electricity when he’s on stage, with dance moves so energetic that they could light up any concert venue. Among his many records, it’s his album Thriller that’s considered the best-selling album of all time – over 65 million units were sold.

Madonna

Another iconic artist in the pop industry, Madonna has undoubtedly gained the same degree of success as the King of Pop – which is why she’s appropriately titled the “Queen of Pop.” The Queen’s influence in music is still apparent, especially with artists like Lady Gaga and Beyoncé. However, besides her hit records, Madonna is also quite the performer. To this day, she holds the record for the highest-grossing solo artist of all time – her tours have grossed around $1.3 billion in ticket sales.

Queen

When it comes to rock bands, it would be a disservice not to give credit to Queen and the legacy they left in the music industry. Throughout their time releasing records and rocking concert stages, Queen has given the world several timeless hits like We Will Rock You, Under Pressure, and, most especially, Bohemian Rhapsody. However, among all the band’s members, perhaps it’s their vocalist Freddie Mercury who was able to inspire several artists, both established and up and coming. To this day, Mercury is often considered the best frontman in music history – the energy he shows on stage was and still is incomparable.

Nirvana

Another band hailing from the rock genre, Nirvana and its members have become quite the iconic figures in the music industry. With their talents and their relatively new approach to making songs, it’s safe to say that their managers knew where to focus their investments in. Among their many songs, it’s their hit record Smells Like Teen Spirit that skyrocketed the band’s status to greater heights. However, after their guitarist and vocalist Kurt Cobain’s unfortunate passing, the band decided to go their separate ways. Although the band only released three albums throughout their career, they still managed to leave quite a mark and continue to inspire several new artists today.

Although these artists are all undoubtedly talented, they also have one more thing in common: passion. Many of the music industry’s most successful musicians possess a high degree of enthusiasm for creating their art. This way, not only are they releasing new records because they need to but they’re also sharing their passion because they want to. Hopefully, this article was an entertaining read. If you know your fair share of talented bands, do give them some support. After all, besides talent, artists are only as successful as the fans who support them want them to be.
