To imagine yourself in a fantasy world is something many of us tend to do, especially in our childhood. After all, one can’t deny how interesting life can be if it was alongside beings like superheroes, dragons, wizards, or aliens. However, for actors, they could bring several of their dreams to life – all while receiving some money for their credit cards.

Working as an actor is arguably a dream many people want to fulfill. However, under all the fame, the glitz, and the glamour, it’s just like other lines of work. Besides receiving varying levels of attention under the spotlight, an actor’s career can be quite a challenge to maintain. This goes to show that working hard is always a must, especially if it’s for our dreams. With that said, let’s get on with the article. Today, we’ll be talking about what it’s like to live life in the shoes of a star.

Hard Work Can Go A Long Way

Like other types of work, making it big in the acting business is, to some degree, an investment that’s both challenging and rewarding. Most of the time, up and coming stars don’t immediately land a big role; they usually start at the bottom. The first films they’d star in are often the ones that audiences wouldn’t often recognize – like the straight-to-DVD B-movie kind. However, after acting in more and more films, high-ranking figures, like producers and directors, will eventually notice these aspiring actors and even offer them a spot in their next big-budget movies – or recommend them to other prominent filmmakers. Although this often takes a while, one can’t deny how fulfilling it would feel to finally make it big in the industry.

Acting Takes Skills

At this point, it’s a widely-known fact that acting requires plenty of passion and commitment. Before production begins, actors would often study and research to prepare for their upcoming acting credit. Two good examples would be the famous interpretations of Joker, done by Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix.

For Ledger, the actor spent some time locking himself up in a hotel room. Throughout his stay, the actor tried different voices and laughs for the Joker, all while writing down notes on his diary. By the time filming began, every cast member was taken aback by his portrayal of the character – so much so that it even made Michael Caine forget his lines.

For the more recent Joker film, Phoenix spent some time studying people with Pseudobulbar affect, a chronic disease where the person laughs for no reason. Along the way, the actor also lost a significant amount of weight. Not only did it change his range of movement, but it also affected his psyche – a risky investment that eventually bore great results. Besides creating their own twist on the now-iconic Clown Prince of Crime, both actors also earned an Oscar for their amazing portrayal of the character.

Always Have A Backup Ready

Although acting is often a dream job for many, it is usually far from being the “dream” people think it is. Over the years, we’ve all seen our fair share of criminally underrated actors. Even when they possess the skills that make a great performer, they somehow still never get the chance to make it big in the business. Although they are praised by fans and critics, fame can only do so much to support an actor’s daily needs, like food and shelter. As harsh as it may be, it’s often the case for many celebrities. With that in mind, it comes as no surprise that several stars also have investments in other businesses. One example is Deadpool and Detective Pikachu’s Ryan Reynolds, a widely-loved actor who also owns the wireless company Mint Mobile.
